Corrie locals in uproar by big changes at the Rovers

Coronation Street residents are furious in upcoming episodes as they discover change is afoot in the Rovers Return Pub.

The boozer is currently owned by Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews), who has been sole owner ever since she split up with Johnny (Richard Hawley). While Jenny has ran the place for a while, she is helped by staff members Daisy (Charlotte Jordan), Sean (Antony Cotton), Glenda (Jodie Prenger) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell).

Coming up, it appears the ongoing cost of living crisis is starting to have a massive impact on the pub, as Jenny tells Owen (Ben Hull) that the business is struggling financially.

Businessman Owen thinks it’s as simple as Jenny selling up so she makes it clear that isn’t an option.

Overhearing the conversation is Stephen (Todd Boyce), who says that instead of changing the prices, she should reduce portion sizes of the food and drink. Jenny runs a trial of this idea, but it ends terribly when there’s a loud bang from the kitchen and the lights go out.

Jenny then tells Daisy and Glenda that on Stephen’s advice, she’s putting up bar prices and room rental. The staff are also shocked to discover she’s cutting their shifts, and the customers are seriously unimpressed by the price hikes.

That evening, after a failed attempt at holding a Darts Night, Jenny finds some of the locals playing darts in Ed’s (Trevor Michael Georges) backyard.

Feeling as though she has no choice, Jenny tells Daisy that with trade the way it is, they’re only weeks away from closing the pub for good.

Is this really the end?
