Alya Nazir’s (Sair Khan) desperation to clear Stu Carpenter’s (Bill Fellows) name impacts her good morals in Coronation Street, as she lies to Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) about whether or not to continue the case.
The problem Alya comes across is down to Bridget (Beth Vyse) and young Eliza, Stu’s granddaughter.
Bridget has changed her mind about cutting Stu out of her and Eliza’s lives completely and soon, they agree to spend time together at Speed Daal.
We know from past scenes that all Stu has longed for is a relationship with his daughter (and now Eliza), so when he realises they are starting to get along really well, he tells Alya that actually, he doesn’t want to continue the investigation as the happiness and positive relationships he has with Bridget and Eliza are much more important.
Alya feels somewhat stuck at this point, and goes against Stu’s wishes by being slightly dishonest with Dee-Dee, who’s helping on the case.
Dee-Dee confirms in the new video that a charity has offered to help fund the DNA test, which will examine Charlie’s old bag and rediscover who had their hands on it many years ago.
The lawyer tells Alya that a DNA sample is needed from Lucy (Lynda Rooke), Stu’s ex, and wants to update him right away.
Alya lies to her new friend and tells her that Stu is incredibly stressed and just wants developments to go through her, which leaves Dee-Dee suspicious.
Alya then makes out that Stu does really want to continue with the case, which leaves Dee-Dee happy.
But of course, when the truth gets out, this new face is going to be far from thrilled…but how much will change?
With Alya aware they are very close to the right answer, will her betrayal to Stu impact how the inevitable moment where he learns the truth plays out?
