Corrie Stephen star says blood drained from face when he discovered dark twist

Coronation Street actor Todd Boyce says "blood probably drained from my face" when he first learned Stephen Reid was going to become a killer.

The soap star, 61, first played the role of Audrey Roberts' (Sue Nicholls) businessman son from 1996 to 1997 before returning in 2007 and and again in 2022.

Since his latest cobbles comeback, the character has murdered Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) and is set to kill again in upcoming scenes.

Teddy Tompkins (Grant Burgin) becomes his next victim as he finally discovers that Stephen is responsible for his son's death.

Speaking about becoming Weatherfield's newest villain, Todd told Daily Star and other press: "Iain MacLeod producer] and I sat down on Zoom and I had no clue I was going to be a murderer.

"I think the blood probably drained from my face and then I thought 'Oh my god, I'm going to be a baddie' and the blood came back to my face.

"He kindly wanted to see if that was OK with me but then he said there will be another murder at some point.

"It has come sooner than I expected."

"I've stopped asking what's asking what's happening because it's exciting not to know actually."

Todd went on to open up about the moment Stephen murders Teddy and what fans can expect from the aftermath.

He explained: "I think this is more pre-meditated.

"He tries as much as he can to talk Teddy around and knows if that doesn't work he's going to have to kill him.

"With Leo, he was hiding his financial malfeasance but now he's got one body down he's perfectly happy to cover that up with another one."

He continued: "About 10 characters come in very close proximity to his dead body, which is very funny.

"I got the scripts and I emailed Iain and I was in an over the moon situation already playing this character but I was beside myself."

With two on his hit list already, Todd revealed that Carla Connor (Alison King) may be the next corpse on the cobbles.

"Carla's getting on his wick. She's humiliated him on two occasions in front of his former colleagues who he worked with in Milan," the actor said.

"She's got a business he'd like to get his hands on. Carla is skating on very thin ice."
