Coronation Street actor Luca Toolan has a famous family connection away from the show as he is the son of radio DJ Mike Toolan.
The rising star, who plays Weatherfield High's bad boy Mason, made his debut on the ITV soap last month. Stirring up an array of trouble, Mason picked on Ruby Dobbs, before recruiting a gang to torment her even further.
However, away from the cobbles, fans might recognise his relation to radio DJ Mike, who is known for his show on Hits Radio. The popular DJ hosts his programme alongside actress Gemma Atkinson, who has starred in both Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.

Corrie star Luca shares a close relationship with his dad and called him first when he received news that he had got the part. Despite this, Luca also confessed that he never told anyone that he was auditioning for Coronation Street.
Speaking openly about securing his role, he told The Mirror: "First thing I did was ring my dad. I didn't actually tell anybody about anything, not even the first self-tape, because I'm very superstitious. I also didn't tell him about the screen test so he was surprised. Obviously, he knows I'm into acting, but he was like, 'What? What do you mean?'
"Because usually I tell him about all my auditions, and this was the first one I didn't. He was just in complete shock. He knows how much of a big deal it is and understands how lucky I am to be in the position that I am. I also rang my Grandma as she is a massive Corrie fan, she didn’t believe it and thought I was pulling her leg!"
The star also admitted that fans may be put off by his character's portrayal. However, he also tried to show Mason in a vulnerable light too.

Last month, Mason caused havoc when he attempted to enlist the help of Dylan Wilson, played by Liam McCheyne. Mason took Dylan under his wing before the pair decided to target young Liam Connor as their next victim.
Adding further insight into Mason's disruptive behaviour, Luca said he would advise his character to "get therapy". He also added that he hopes that his character can be explored and further developed so fans can understand the reason for why he behaves the way he does.
