Cue The Nostalgic Feels! Cary Elwes And Jake Busey Will Be Joining 'Stranger Things' Season 3

The population of Hawkins, Indiana, just grew by two.

On Wednesday, Netflix announced that Cary Elwes and Jake Busey have both signed on for Stranger Things Season 3.

Elwes, who you probably recognize as Westley from the beloved ’80s movie The Princess Bride, will play the “handsome, slick, and sleazy” mayor of Hawkins, per Netflix’s press release. “Your classic ’80s politician – more concerned with his own image than with the people of the small town he governs,” read the promotional statement.

Elwes isn’t the first ’80s icon to show up in Hawkins. Last season saw appearances by Sean Astin (The Goonies) as Bob Newby and Paul Reiser (Aliens) as Dr. Sam Owens.

For the upcoming season, Starship Troopers‘ Jake Busey will take on the role of Bruce, “a journalist for The Hawkins Post, with questionable morals and a sick sense of humor.”

Little is known plot-wise about the highly-anticipated third season, but we do know Maya Hawke (daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman) has been cast in the role of Robin, an “alternative girl, who is equal parts sharp and playful.” Netflix described Robin a little more fully: “Bored with her mundane day job, she just wants a little excitement in her life… and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins.”

Priah Ferguson, who played Lucas’s little sister Erica in Season 2, has also been promoted from guest star to recurring character. Good, ’cause let’s be real, that girl stole every scene she was in!
