After just one episode of the new series, Danny Miller has already been voted by the public to take on a gruesome I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! trial. The former Emmerdale actor is one of the famous faces enduring a challenging stay in Gwrych Castle on the ITV show this year. On Monday’s instalment of Lorraine, Danny’s fiancée Steph Jones spoke about the soap star’s decision to join the hit reality series. Chatting to host Lorraine Kelly, Steph revealed Danny is hoping his I’m A Celeb stint will lead him to bigger career opportunities in the future.

Sitting down with Lorraine and her resident entertainment expert Ria Hebden, Steph detailed Danny’s motivations for going on I’m A Celeb.

She confessed it was a big decision for her fiancé as they have only just welcomed a baby boy called Albert.

Steph revealed: “It was a really difficult decision for him to decide whether to do it being so close to the birth.

“But actually, when we sat down and discussed it as a family, it’s such a massive opportunity – the biggest show on the telly.

“He’s always wanted to do it, it’s his favourite show to watch,” she added.

Ria remarked that other celebrity contestants have benefitted from being on the show in the past, referencing one of last year’s stars Jordan North.

She commented: “Jordan said, didn’t he? This was a career-changing for him. A big, big life-changing moment.

“It’ll be interesting to see what opportunities come out of this, depending on how he does,” the entertainment reporter added.

Speaking about her fiancé, Steph replied: “That was one of the reasons why he did it because this is the biggest opportunity of his career.

“He’s been in Emmerdale for 13 years and he wanted to open the door maybe to different career paths,” she explained.

Steph went on to highlight how different life will be now that Danny’s left his job in Emmerdale.

“It means he’s got longer time off with Albert next year rather than working Monday to Friday, seven till seven,” she revealed.

Lorraine was keen to know how Steph thinks Danny will cope in the I’m A Celebrity camp.

She questioned: “Has he got anything that you think the campmates will be annoyed by though?

“Has he got any sort of things that drive you crazy?” Lorraine asked.

“Maybe his bad habits in terms of not cleaning up,” Steph laughed.

“Oh dear, is he untidy?” Lorraine remarked, with Steph replying: “Quite untidy.”

Ria chimed in: “Oh, he might rub Arlene up the wrong way then because she’s really clean isn’t she?”

“Arlene’s a clean freak, isn’t she? Oh dear, that could cause a few problems,” Lorraine said.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues Monday at 9pm on ITV.
