David Beckham cuddles his niece as the family celebrate his mum Sandra's birthday – but Victoria skips the party to read a book at home

Becks, 43, joined Sandra and his family for a slap-up meal on Tuesday night and shared pictures from the bash with fans on social media.

But while he was at the bash with sons Brooklyn, 19, and 13-year-old Cruz, along with his newly-single sister Joanne and her gorgeous baby daughter Peggy, David's wife Victoria decided to give it a miss.

Presumably staying home to look after six-year-old Harper on the school night, Victoria opted to dip into a good read instead.

Taking to Instagram while her hubby and sons were out, she shared a picture of the novel Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.

Victoria captioned her picture: "Tuesday night reading! x"

Meanwhile, while 44-year-old Victoria was at home, David filled his Instagram stories with snaps of himself and his family taken at a posh restaurant.

Among the pictures was a gorgeous shot of himself lifting baby Peggy into the air.

He captioned it: "Apparently someone's pretty funny!"

David also posted a group photo of himself, his boys, Sandra and six-month-old Peggy, along with a snapshot of Brooklyn holding his baby cousin.

The footballing legend also shared some video clips of Sandra being presented with a birthday cake and Peggy trying some new baby food for the very first time.

Wishing his mum a 'Happy Birthday', David added: "Happy birthday to the most amazing mum….

"Someone who is selfless in everything she does every single day … We all love you x @sandra_beckham49."

Meanwhile, along with Victoria and Harper, the couple's 15-year-old son Romeo was also noticeably absent from Sandra's birthday celebrations.

Last week, it was revealed that Romeo is hoping to follow in his father's sporting footsteps – but in tennis rather than football.

Victoria has applied to have an artificial grass court built in the grounds of the family's Oxfordshire mansion so he can train at home.

According to the Mail On Sunday, Victoria is "determined" to make the 15-year-old "the David Beckham of the tennis world".

A source told the newspaper that the expected cost to install the court is £30,000, adding: "She wants him practising as much as possible and will hire in coaches to train him."
