Deadpool 2's cut post-credits scene saw Ryan Reynolds kill baby Hitler

Warning: This article contains some mild Deadpool 2 spoilers.

Who would have thought it was possible for Deadpool to go too far?

The foul-mouthed superhero with a thirst for violence, rude jokes and thrusting his groin in front of the camera isn’t exactly what you’d call suitable family viewing, but it seems even the Merc with a Mouth is capable of crossing a line.

That line is apparently drawn at murdering babies.

According to a report from MCU Cosmic, a cut post-credits scene for Deadpool 2 saw Ryan Reynolds’ red leather-clad mercenary travel back in time to kill baby Adolf Hitler.

In the scene, he apparently finds himself in a hospital with new-born babies and walks over to a crib labelled A. Hitler. Another baby starts crying, prompting Reynolds’ Deadpool to say: “Shut up, Ira, you’ll thank me someday!”

From baby Hitler’s perspective, we were then meant to see Deadpool strangle him to death. 20th Century Fox deemed that a bit much.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe fan website reported that the scene made audiences feel uncomfortable during test screenings (oh, really?), so they decided to cut it.

The film’s director David Leitch recently told Digital Spy that he hopes to pull together an extended version with some of his favourite scenes that were cut, but we highly doubt any strangling-baby-Hitler scene will make it in there.

In slightly lighter news, the first reactions to Deadpool 2 are extremely positive, with some saying it’s better than Infinity War, and Wolverine himself Hugh Jackman describing it as “a work of genius”.

Deadpool 2 will be released on May 15 in the UK and May 18 in the US. Book tickets here.
