Contestant revealed to have £100,000 in box
Deal Or No Deal viewers were left stunned as a player missed out on the £100,000 jackpot after dealing early. It wasn’t long before fans of the show were left wondering “what was he thinking?”
Last Wednesday, December 6, a player called Chaneice dealt for £9,750 but it was later revealed that she had the £100,000 in her box, and a similar fate befell today’s contestant.
Before he started the game, ITV host Stephen Mulhern spilled that he had become known as “Play On Pete” by the team, as every time a contestant asked for advice, he always told them to play on.
The dad of two, who is a former dancer-turned-DJ, looked excited to finally be in the hotseat but refused to reveal what he believed was in his box when asked by Stephen.
With his partner, Joy, in the audience, he began the game and got off to a bad start when he eliminated the £25,000 and the £75,000 prizes within minutes.

However, the game improved for him and he had far less of the lower blue amounts on the board than the higher value reds, which still included the jackpot, when The Banker made him an offer of £9,660.
On his partner’s advice, he accepted the offer as she reasoned that if the £50,000 or £100,000 went off the board, he would walk away with much less.
After he had agreed to the deal, Stephen Mulhern revealed he thought the guest had a huge jackpot in his box. Pete explained that seven was one of his lucky numbers and since he had box seven, he thought it could be the big one.
Despite accepting the offer he still had to play the game to its conclusion, and it quickly became obvious that he could have won bigger. As it became obvious at the end that his box was going to reveal that he had £100,000, he couldn’t bear to watch and hid under the table as Stephen opened the box to show that he could indeed have won the life changing money.

Viewers couldn’t believe how unlucky he had been, and took to X, formerly known as Twitter to lament.
@NiamhRK said: “Pete dealt at £9k when he still had £100k, £50k, £7.5k, £5k and £3k in the board…. What was he thinking? Definitely would have gone on. #DealOrNoDeal.”
@SummonFugzi cmmented: “That drive on the way home is going to me awkward. His wife said take the money. Play on Pete should of played on he had the 100 bags #dealornodeal.”
A viewer with the handle @2001joe_mendy really felt for Pete writing: “What makes it even more upsetting is that had they gone to the end without dealing early, we would’ve had 2 jackpot winners in this same series. Oh I’m gutted for Pete just as I was for Chaniece. #DealOrNoDeal.” (sic)
Meanwhile @Mysteron_Voice wasn’t convinced by the drama, saying: “I suppose it’s the nature of *random* but for the £100K to be on the table twice in eleven shows just *feels* a bit iffy … #DealOrNoDeal #TheChase.”
