Dermot O’Leary was caught out during the BBC’s exhaustive coverage of the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle .
The 44-year-old TV host appeared to slip up during the course of the five hour broadcast on BBC One as coverage took in all the action from inside and around St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday.
The team at the BBC were running like a well oiled machine as Kirsty Young, Huw Edwards, Rina Daheley, Alex Jones and Ore Oduba shared responsibilities as it came to chatting to onlookers and commenting on proceedings.
But unfortunately for Dermot, he caused a very slight blip while hosting as he appeared to miss a cue.
Cameras showed Ore handing back to Dermot and Kirsty in their royal tent.
Kirsty appeared to be in position and ready as she faced the cameras with a fixed smile, waiting for Dermot to pick up the presenting line.
However, the X Factor star had his head bowed, was looking at the floor, raising a thumbs up to the camera and seemed to miss the fact he was meant to be addressing viewers at home.
Ever the professional, however, Derms quickly noticed his error and got quickly back on form.
“Uhhh, thank you guys,” he said quickly as he composed himself and moved on to discussing Meghan’s wedding gown – and as Kirsty smiled awkwardly beside him.
Some viewers were unimpressed by Dermot, however, and took to social media to complain about his presenting skills.
“Can someone stop dermot o’leary writhing, thigh slapping, jacket manoevering, water slurping and innane comments? Its a bit off putting for such a fabulous event. The other presenters are doing a super job but he’s really distracting. Give him a sedative or something,” one disgruntled viewer growled on Twitter.
"Is Dermot O’Leary drunk or just incredibly nervous…or both? He’s fidgeting around worse than a 5 year old at story time,” complained another.
