EastEnders have confirmed when the highly-anticipated return of Cindy Beale will happen.
The BBC soap confirmed that she was returning earlier this year when she appeared on the show but from a foreign country with Ian and Peter Beale.
Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the moment that she steps foot on the Square for the first time in 25 years.
As Peter Beale returns to Walford next week, it has become clear that her arrival will be soon.
With that in mind, on the BBC website, EastEnders has confirmed that the big day is Monday, 28 August.
The programme description for that date reads: "After 25 years away, Cindy arrives back in the square, the Knights excitedly prepare for Anna’s surprise 21st birthday in the Vic, and there are fireworks as Kathy comes face to face with a ghost from her past."
Some eagle-eyed viewers have been quick to pick up on the latest update, and they have shared their excitement on social media.
One person tweeted: "So exciting, can't wait."
While another said: "It's going to be a real humdinger of a show!"
Someone else added: "Here we go," followed by a party popper emoji and a raised hands emoji.
Cindy's return has been building for months following the arrival of the Knight family.
It quickly became clear when they arrived that the family had a secret to hide – that George has a long-lost wife, who is also the mother of his children Anna and Gina.
Since then, the trio revealed that she was called Rose Knight, and she just left one day.
Speculation mounted about who Rose could be until she was confirmed as Cindy Beale in June.
Many residents in Walford assume that Cindy is dead, but she has actually been under witness protection.
During the episode, which showed Cindy abroad, she was given the news that she was no longer under witness protection, and that meant she was back to Cindy rather than Rose.
She has not been seen on screen since, but her daughter Anna has stepped up her search for her back at home.
Anna had employed a private investigator to help her find Rose, but that soon ended when her dad and Gina shared their thoughts on the situation.
Despite being heartbroken by her departure, George has accepted that Rose doesn't want to be found.
With Cindy's arrival just days away, the drama for the Knight family is set to increase once again.
