EastEnders: Janine is taken away in police car after arrest
Keanu (played by Danny Walters) made a surprise comeback to EastEnders recently after years away from Walford. Since returning, it’s been confirmed to BBC viewers that he and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) are secretly working together after convincing the Square that they remain archenemies. However, Phil would be genuinely angry if he found out Keanu and his sister Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) have a romantic history, which was hinted at during Tuesday’s episode. As Keanu brought up to Sam that he could easily let slip the information to Phil, it seems he could start using the secret to blackmail her.
Sam, who is currently in Phil’s bad books, attempted to comfort her brother after it became clear he was unhappy.
The dodgy Walford villain isn’t too pleased because he found out on Christmas Day that his fiancée Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) had kissed Alfie Moon (Shae Richie) while he was away.
He’s also struggling to conceal the fact he’s working with Keanu and under pressure to stop Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) from being jailed for a crime DI Keeble (Alison Newman) is trying to pin on him.
After some convincing, Phil explained to Sam what had happened with Kat.
Believing that Keanu was trying to set Phil up with the police, Sam tried to explain to Phil later that she’d spotted Keanu speaking to Kat, but he told her to stay out of it.
She became further suspicious after watching Keanu walking away from the garages.
“So, five minutes ago you were sniffing around his girl and now you’re sniffing around his business?” she quizzed Keanu.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he responded.
“I know what I saw,” Sam remarked before Keanu stated: “I’m out of here.”
“You carry on like this and you will be – in a box,” Sam threatened.
Grilling Keanu for information about what he’s up to, she went on: “So is that why you came back?
“To try and get one over on Phil any way that you can? Come on – out with it.”
“Don’t push me, Sam,” Keanu snapped ominously. “We’ve all go things we don’t want coming out.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Sam asked.
“It means I don’t buy all this caring, sharing Sam stuff all of a sudden,” he replied.
He added pointedly: “You weren’t too bothered about Phil all those months ago, were you?”
As Sam appeared uncomfortable, Keanu continued: “Oh, hit a nerve, have I?”
He continued: “You really don’t want Phil finding out about you and me in Spain.”
A concerned Sam seemed stunned before the episode ended.
Could Keanu double-cross the Mitchells and start using Sam as a means of getting to Phil?
Perhaps he is only helping Phil out to keep him off his back so he can return to Walford and get to know his son without Phil hassling him but secretly wants revenge.
The feuding men appear to have put their past behind them, but it could be that Keanu is up to something.
Now that he knows Sam is concerned about Phil finding out about their fling, Keanu now has something to hold over her so she can help him get back at Phil.
