Writing a lengthy tribute to her "little mate" who she named after a co-star, the Whitney starlet poured her heart out online.
"When I got the job on EastEnders, still living at home, and my first pay cheque at the age of 16, I bought a gorgeous little pup, for my family," she explained.
Recalling how when she first met the gorgeous black and white pup, Shona explained how he was very vocal, adding: "A real feisty little fella. A bit like Phil Mitchell. So, I decided to name him Mitch. After Mitchell of course."
Continuing her tribute, she touched on how he made her family so happy, with her, her sister and Mitch growing up together.
"He had such a kind heart, he’d catch mice or flies, and just want to play with them, never hurt them," she continued.
Shona added that Mitch was a "huge flirt with the ladies" and was always there when she was upset, or hurt.
She then concluded: "We’ll remember you always Mitchy. Rest in peace."
Fans and friends of the EastEnders star were quick to comment on the touching tribute, with one fan writing: "Oh darling I'm sure you were the best mummy to Mitch. Bless you. Fly high over the rainbow bridge Mitch."
While Jacqueline Jossa, who portrays Lauren Branning in the soap, wrote: "Beautifully written darling. Sorry for your loss. Rest in peace Mitch. Sending love to you all."
And Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Slater, added: "Oh I'm so sorry. I'm sad for you all, sending loads of love."
Other EastEnders stars who supported Shona were Emma Barton who plays Honey Mitchell, Heather Peace who plays Eve Unwin, Scott Maslen who plays Jack Branning and Shona's on-screen baby daddy James Farrar who plays Zack Hudson.
