EastEnders viewers were cringing on Thursday night (November 3) when two major characters returned to Walford with a shock admission that left many reeling.

Janine Butcher arrived back in Albert Square with Mick Carter by her side, looking as smug as ever, and the duo had some news to break to Mick's ex Linda.

Having a chat with Linda with Janine a few yards away, it didn't take long for her to intervene.

Walking over to Mick and Linda, Janine presumed that Mick had told his ex about their news.

Realising that he hadn't yet, Janine found great pleasure in breaking it to Linda herself.

Smugly looking at her, Janine told Linda that she and Mick were engaged to be married as they looked to the future of bringing up their first child together.

Viewers at home were less than impressed with Janine's arrival, and even less so when she gave Mick a "weird nose kiss".

One viewer penned: "Mick and Janine are engaged. I can feel my tea coming back up."

Another added: "That weird nose kiss Janine gave Mick though. Stop that this isn’t an Attenborough doc."

"I enjoyed #EastEnders much more when Janine was away," noted a third.

While a fourth penned: "I actually threw up in my mouth a little then, when Janine ate, I mean kissed Mick."

And a fifth went on: "Janine and Mick are revolting."

This comes as Janine and Mick returned from a romantic break away, where they realised they wanted to get hitched to make things "official" before they become parents.
