Emma Willis backs pal AJ Odudu on Strictly: ‘She’s phenomenal and perfect’

Since working on Big Brother together in 2013, Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Odudu and The Voice UK presenter Emma Willis have fostered a friendship that'd thaw even the coolest of hearts.

When speaking about their new show, Emma And AJ Get To Work, the pair sung one another's praises and Emma had nothing but good things to say about her pal's performance on Strictly Come Dancing.

"She’s one of those people who can walk into a room and you can just sit there and listen – she’s mesmerising!" Emma gushed.

"She doesn’t just look like a goddess, but she has the most wonderful brain and she’s incredibly funny. So put all of that together and you’ve got a perfect human."

She added: "And isn’t she just phenomenal on Strictly?!”

AJ was equally as complimentary, dubbing Emma "beautiful inside and out."

She continued: "We met on Big Brother and she was so welcoming. We spoke loads during lockdown and had plenty of Zoom quizzes, which were hilarious.

"But we couldn’t see each other in person, so I was buzzing about being able to spend time together. She’s kind, smart, funny, charismatic and a great laugh.”

It's clear Emma and AJ are each other's biggest cheerleaders and viewers will get to see the pair in action as they do their best to help British businesses in the new show, Emma And AJ Get To Work.

Whether it is shearing sheep, making candles or cooking for the masses, the pair hold nothing back as they get stuck in.

On sheep shearing, Emma said: "I learnt that it’s bloody hard work and women don’t stand much of a chance because it’s such a male-dominated industry."

Meanwhile, AJ revealed that she "empathised" with the "strong family bond" of Ebi and Emmanuel – owners of a Nigerian homeware business.

AJ is currently competing in Strictly Come Dancing with newbie Kai Widdrington and she's been wowing both the viewers and the judges with her stand-out performances.

Although the pair were at the bottom of the leaderboard last week, they made it through to musicals week and will be dancing to keep their place in the competition on Saturday night.
