Two of the UK's most popular soaps – Emmerdale and Coronation Street – will face disruption to their usual schedule in upcoming weeks.
The ITV soaps with interrupted air times are both in the midst of some big storylines, as Coronation Street follows Stephen Reid's attempts to get away with murder while Charity and Liam are set to have a blossoming romance in Emmerdale.
Emmerdale usually airs at 7.30pm for half an hour each evening, with an hour long episode on Thursday nights.
Meanwhile, Corrie usually airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm for an hour.
However, in an upcoming shake-up commencing Monday, 4 September, there will be some big changes for the soaps.
On Monday, both soaps will air as normal in their 7.30pm and 8pm slots respectively.
On Tuesday, Emmerdale will air a special hour long edition from the earlier time of 7pm, with ITV News being cut short by half an hour that evening.
From there, the National Television Awards will air live at 8pm.
The soaps will be back to normal on Wednesday, with Emmerdale airing at 7.30pm for half an hour and Corrie airing for an hour edition at 8pm.
But then on Thursday, there will be no Emmerdale and Corrie will air for an hour from 9pm to 10pm, in its first post-watershed slot for a while.
On Friday, Emmerdale and Corrie will not air as ITV will be covering the live Rugby World Cup game between France and New Zealand.
Whilst there's some heavy disruption to the usual schedule, viewers can still tune in to their favourite soaps.
The Emmerdale episodes airing that week mark some of the last that the current executive producer, Jane Hudson has been in charge of as she announced she had quit the show after five years.
Her last episodes will air during the stunt week in September.
In a statement released earlier this week, she said: "I've had a wonderful time at Emmerdale and feel very lucky to have spent the last five years working alongside such a hardworking and talented team.
"I’m extremely proud of what we‘ve achieved both on and off screen, especially during the pandemic when we all pulled together to make sure we never went off air.
"As hard as it is to say goodbye to my fictional family of villagers, I can’t wait to have weekends back with my real family. But mostly, I can’t wait to be an Emmerdale viewer again and have no idea what’s coming next!"
