Emmerdale fans beg Paddy to turn to Marlon as he returns amid suicide storyline

Fans of ITV’s Emmerdale have begged Paddy Kirk to open up to his loved ones ahead of a heartbreaking suicide storyline.

Paddy, who has been played by Dominic Brunt since 1997, has had a hard time as of late after discovering that his wife was cheating on him.

Earlier this year, Lucy Pargeter’s character Chas Dingle was found to be cheating on thevet with Michael Wildman’s Al Chapman.

Paddy and Chas’ marriage broke down as a result and Al was savagely killed by Kyle Dingle as his father, Jeff Hordley’s Cain Dingle, initially took the fall.

Paddy fled the Yorkshire Dales without telling anyone earlier this month after Chas, who also planned to run away with their daughter, confessed to loving Al more than him.

The soap staple returned to the village during Tuesday’s episode, with best buddy Marlon Dingle, played by Mark Charnock, ecstatic at the return despite being offered no explanation for his pal's departure.

Marlon did pull Paddy aside for a private chat but the usually smiley character pushed him away and said he just needed space.

Dispute Marlon’s pleas, Paddy stormed off and insisted that he needed a shower, which comes before a devastating storyline that will see the vet consider taking his own life.

Fans have been reacting to the tense moment online, with many begging Paddy to open up to Marlon and the rest of the Dingle family.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Paddy you need to open up to your family.”

“Love Marlon and Paddy's broship. Hope it's Marlon who brings him back from the brink,” another wrote, as a third added: “Paddy. He looks so broken.”

“It’s nice to see Paddy home but he’s acting like nothing has happened and as though he’s not going through a lot on the inside. What everyone is seeing of him being happy isn’t the full picture I don’t think, it’s too unlikely given how long he has been gone,” another said.

Someone else added: “Thank god paddy’s back!!! Let’s hope they give him some space and get him the support he needs.”

Speaking about the storyline, Dominic previously explained: "It is a huge honour and a great responsibility to be portraying this storyline.

"It’s an inherent problem in today’s society that most men don’t talk enough about their problems. We bottle them up, we don’t want to bother anyone, we become embarrassed, we feel we should be strong and not show weakness.

"If this story can shine a light on the issue or make even a small change to someone’s outlook or viewpoint, then it will have been worth it.

"It’s also a privilege to be working alongside The Samaritans and Andy’s Man Club in highlighting this issue."

Samaritans offer help for anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts. Find more information on their website.
