Emmerdale fans believe they have finally worked out Caleb Miligan's true motive for being in the village – and it's nothing to do with his half-brother Cain Dingle.
Viewers have been wary of Caleb, played by Waterloo Road star Will Ash, since he first arrived in the Dales on Christmas Day and announced he was Cain and Chas' long lost sibling.
Since his first appearance, fans have become convinced there is more to the new arrival than meets the eye and have speculated he could be lying about his identity.
Now, they have theorized that his link could actually be to the late DI Mark Malone due to his current involvement with Will Taylor.
The bent police officer was a former colleague of Harriet Finch and boss of the criminal gang Will worked for before going to prison.
The dodgy copper was eventually murdered by Will's daughter, Dawn after she shot him three times when he attempted to attack her and Harriet.
At the end of Thursday's episode, Caleb told Cain that he picked his battles carefully, revealing he plans to take everything from Will and his wife Kim Tate.
As Will's daughter murdered DI Malone, could this be what is driving Caleb for revenge if he is somehow linked to the late copper?
Taking to social media with their theories, one viewer wrote: "“I’m now wondering if Caleb has something to do with or a connection to the missing (now deceased) DI Malone – Cain initially had some dodgy dealings with Malone when he first appeared in the village…#emmerdale."
"Apparently Caleb has something to do with Malone," added another person.
Someone else penned: "I think Caleb is DI Malone's brother who Dawn Taylor murder not Cain Dingle's brother and wait and see first."
While a fourth suggested: "If it's connected to Joe, then Debbie needs to return even if recast #Emmerdale @emmerdale Maybe Caleb is looking for Malone.”
