Naomi (played by Karene Peter) may not have been in the ITV soap long, but she has proven she has a controlling side and Emmerdale fans don’t trust her. Now that she is the girlfriend of Nate (Jurell Carter), it seems he could become a victim of her abusive nature, and viewers are concerned about what might become of him. Will Naomi show her true colours by abusing Nate?
Nate was recently forced to explain why he has a relationship with his ex, Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) after Naomi became jealous.
Could Nate be in danger of facing a frightening Naomi if her controlling ways get worse?
Fans of the soap seem to think so, and have expressed concern for Nate.
Twitter user @LisaBro21177876 wrote: “Get rid of possessive jealous Naomi #Emmerdale.
“Maybe though it’s a new storyline to show that women can be very controlling as well.
“Maybe it will turn into Female to Male DV. Like in Corrie that time with Ty.” (sic)
@caitlin_appleby added: “Naomi is so highly strung it’s ridiculous she needs to relax a bit and stop being so intense about everything.
“Think Nate is going to be dragged round by his nose by her #Emmerdale.”
@_TS_13 remarked: “Nate needs to get rid of Naomi. Can’t have someone acting like this because you have a kid #Emmerdale.”
@Crazier penned: “#emmerdale Nate what on earth are you doing with that moody little bully Naomi?!”
“Naomi is giving me really bad vibes, sort of Kirsty from corrie vibes. Anyone else think this or just me? She seems off… #Emmerdale,” @missgemrose penned.
@hegarty_deirdre added: “@emmerdale not enjoying Nat and naomi relationship sorry.”
@Beckie_Miller_ shared: “Congratulations Naomi, you’re managing to make Tracey look cheerful #Emmerdale.”
Since she came into the soap, Naomi has caused a lot of trouble, creating issues with her previously-estranged father Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) and his partner Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker).
Manpreet even accused Naomi of attacking her father after he was found unconscious and hospitalised.
A worried Manpreet rushed inside the church after she saw Naomi storming out, only to find Charles unconscious.
Later, Naomi returned and asked what had happened, claiming Charles had been fine when she left him.
However, Manpreet accused her of hurting him, and Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) ended up arresting her.
Later at the hospital, Ethan tried to make Manpreet see that Naomi may not have touched Charles.
“She’s not going to get away with this,” the doctor said ominously as she watched Charles while he lay in a coma on a hospital bed.
“You can’t really think Naomi was responsible for this,” Ethan argued.
“Ethan, it’s a serious head injury, I mean serious,” she replied.
“It was more than a row. It’s difficult to explain, it was the way she was saying it.
She was so full of hatred and anger and I’ve heard that rage before. She sounded like Meena.”
In the end, it had been an accident which caused Charles to fall and knock himself out, but because the incident happened shortly after a row with Naomi, Manpreet assumed the worst.
Despite her innocence in this case, fans don’t trust the mysterious woman.
Could Manpreet have been right about Naomi’s violent streak?
Perhaps Nate will fall victim to an abuse storyline involving Naomi.
Fans will no doubt hope that another villager will spot a change in good-natured Nate and help him before things escalate.
Could he be in real danger if Naomi’s controlling behaviour worsens?
