Hearts are breaking and much loved characters hit rock bottom in next week’s Emmerdale, as the village worries for the fate of broken soul Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt).

After he has disappeared from the village, his return is only a fleeting relief as it becomes clear, potentially too late, that he is saying goodbye.

As another shocking discovery is made, a missing gun leaves many fearing the worst.

Can Paddy be saved?

Elsewhere, there is pain for Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) as he is facing saying goodbye to Marshall, thanks to the actions of his homophobic dad.

And the family faces further strife when Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) plants a kiss on Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), leaving Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) infuriated.

Monday February 27

Noah begrudgingly agrees to give a smug Samson another £2000 bribe to keep him away from Amelia and Esther.

Sam and Lydia are pleased when Pollard informs them that he’s not going to make a statement. Sam’s later left concerned when Pollard tells him that in order to pay off his dues, he’ll work for him unpaid.

Leyla’s moved by Jai’s kindness as he checks on her after the news of her decree nisi. Leyla misinterprets Jai’s warmth as she leans in to kiss him. Jai’s mortified as he realises that Laurel’s spotted them. As Laurel storms off, Jai despairs. 

Tuesday February 28

Everyone is stunned when a dishevelled Paddy returns with a holdall. Marlon simmers but makes a beeline for him. Chas is irritated by Paddy’s behaviour.

When Bear enters with Eve, it’s an emotional reunion for all and Chas softens when she realises the hurt and sadness in Paddy’s eyes.

Paddy plays up his happiness to get Marlon off his back but when Marlon leaves, Paddy’s facade crumbles as he’s left utterly bereft and broken.

Leyla’s disheartened when Jai informs her that he can no longer be the person to support her and Suzy agrees to step in and support Leyla.

Arthur’s left reeling when Marshall tells him that his dad is sending him away to boarding school.

Marshall dismisses his feelings for Arthur and plays it off as the two of them just being friends.

Wednesday March 1

Paddy goes about his day seemingly making amends with family and friends but he is saying his veiled goodbyes.

Naomi arranges a drink with Alex; oblivious to the trouble that she’s getting herself into.

Matty fails to hide his inner conflict when he asks Amy if sole custody of Kyle is the best thing for him.

Mary’s chuffed when she receives a message from Faye asking for them to meet up again.

Thursday March 2

With Paddy having gone,  Bear makes the horrifying discovery of the letter.  Helpless Marlon is distressed as everyone scrambles to go and find Paddy. 

Amy tries to stay strong for terrified Kyle ahead of his hearing. Feeling powerless ahead of his son’s hearing, Cain strong arms his way into Keepers to see Kyle, leaving Amy fuming at his intrusion.

Seeing how important it is for Cain and Kyle to share a moment, Caleb persuades Amy to relent. Everyone is left on tenterhooks when Kyle’s solicitor phones with big news. 

Friday March 3
