Emmerdale star Sally Dexter reveals Dingle devastation as Sarah death fears grow

Emmerdale star Sally Dexter has spoken out about the life-or-death crisis ahead for Sarah Sugden, revealing how Faith Dingle will never forgive herself if she’s responsible for the schoolgirl stopping her treatment.

Next week’s episodes see Sarah shock her family by announcing that she no longer wants the heart transplant that’s desperately needed to save her life.

Sarah’s decision baffles her loved ones, until it transpires that she overheard Faith making some insensitive remarks about how the operation would be a waste of time.

Speaking about the unfortunate situation, Sally explained: “It is a little bit Faith’s fault, because Sarah heard Faith talking to Diane and Joe about her medical situation. Faith was just having an off day and was not very encouraging about the prospects. Faith is so worried about Sarah that she didn’t dare hold out much hope.

“Sarah then doesn’t want to progress with the heart operation because of what Faith said, so Debbie is absolutely furious with Faith.

“Faith feels hugely responsible. I think she would do anything to help Sarah so she really feels that, even though she didn’t mean to, she’s really put her foot in it this time.

“If they can’t change Sarah’s mind, I don’t think Faith could ever forgive herself and I don’t think Debbie would either. Sarah needs the medical assistance and without that, she won’t make it.”

Although a devastated Debbie warns her gran to stay away from now on, Faith is determined to make amends and comes up with a surprising plan to make Sarah see sense.

Sally revealed: “Faith decides she needs to do something very dramatic, very quickly, to shake Sarah out of this gloom-ridden state that she’s in. She literally wants to take her off to new horizons and make her see her life in a different way.

“Faith comes up with quite an extraordinary plan. She whisks Sarah away from the realms of the hospital and shows her that life is worth living.

“There’s a risk taking her out of the hospital. Sarah has to take an intravenous drip with her medication still in it.

“But Faith has faith. If Faith can’t do it, I don’t think anyone can.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
