Emmerdale viewers unimpressed over survival week stunts and special effects

Emmerdale fans have been left torn over over the dramatic scenes in the soap across the week – with many remaining unimpressed over the stunts.

The audience didn’t appear all that keen on all the stunts and digital special effects used on the long-runningITVsoap’s survival week special.

They’ve been keeping up with the villagers as they struggle through one wretched trial after another on a challenging outdoor-pursuits trip.

The final moments of last night’s episode saw Victoria Sugden, played by Isabel Hodgins since 2006, falling headlong down a waterfall.

The jaw-dropping cliffhanger left some fans on the edge of their seats wondering if the popular character would survive the horrific fall.

But others were too distracted by the quality of the stunts and special effects to care about what happened to poor Victoria.

And it wasn’t long before they popped up on Twitter to savage what they’d just seen.

“Emmerdale’s water scenes are so clearly CGI (computer generated images) and the storyline sucks”, wrote one peeved viewer.

A second added: “I'm just waiting for all c**p CGI to stop”.

While a third chipped in to say: “I’m sorry but this CGI is just rubbish”.

Ahead of the survival week special, an Emmerdale director promised the audience would be “scared”, “shocked” and “hopefully misled” by Super Soap Week’s events.

The show’s producer Kate Brooks added: "This week doesn’t just take our characters out of their comfort zones, but will actively catapult our viewers from their cosy living room chairs straight into the heart of this beautiful and very very dangerous chaos”.

It may not be mission accomplished with all viewers, but the action continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.

It’s thought that at least one character will perish, but will it be Victoria?
