Emmerdale’s Cain’s son Kyle kills Al Chapman in flashback scenes – but fans spot issue

Emmerdale fans have finally learned what happened during Al Chapman’s murder, but some spotted an issue in the flashback scenes.

Al Chapman, played by Michael Wildman, was killed off the soap as part of the show’s dramatic 50th anniversary last week, with Jeff Hordley’s Cain Dingle initially arrested for the crime.

But during Friday’s episode, Cain revealed to Moira Dingle, played by Natalie J Robb, that Huey Quinn’s Kyle Winchester was the one to pull the trigger while trying to protect his dad.

Viewers were treated to the climactic event in a special flashback episode on Monday that saw Kyle follow Cain to his meeting with Al.

Kyle followed Cain to the barn, and when he saw fighting, with both men reaching for a nearby gun, he stepped in and took matters into his own hands.

Both Cain and Al begged Kyle to put the gun down and assured him that everything would be okay, but as Al stepped toward him, Kyle panicked and fired the gun.

Cain initially planned to bury Al's body, but that plan soon changed when Kerry Wyatt discovered the body and Cain told Kyle to hide his blood-stained jumper and pretend like nothing had happened.

While recalling the incident with his mum, Amy Wyatt, a crying Kyle begged to go to the police so his dad wouldn’t go down for murder.

Following the episode, many fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts, with some confused as to how Kyle fired the gun in the first place.

"How has a child as slight as Kyle fired a shotgun? He looks like he couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding, poor kid. #Emmerdale," one user wrote.

A second added: "Kerry must have taken a while to walk in #Emmerdale."

A third explained: "I am no fire arms expert… but i would very much imagine… a kid shooting a shot gun like that would of knocked Kyle completely off his feet…. and would have been a emotional wreck afterwards.. #Emmerdale.”

Moira actress Natalie J. Robb has spoke on the “difficult” storyline ahead.

She said: "She has a lot of extremely difficult decisions to make. This is a fascinating story to play as there are so many twists and turns that will cause a ripple effect to other characters in the village that are not yet aware of the true circumstances.

“Moira, as a mother and a wife, has such a turbulent time ahead which is great as an actress to get stuck into."

It comes after Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle Dingle, took to Twitter after Al’s murder aired, where she recalled enjoying “every moment” with actor Michael.

Following the episode, Emmerdale shared an emotional video of Michael thanking fans and saying goodbye after an explosive few years on the show.

He said: "The time has come for Al Chapman to move on. I've enjoyed every single moment of playing this mischievous, complex character.

"Thank you to the 95% of you that absolutely hate him, and the 5% of you that actually love him.”

Beneath the video, Eden dubbed Michael, her “favourite man", alongside other stars wishing Michael the best of luck in his next venture.
