Emmerdale has hinted that Debbie Dingle’s daughter Sarah Sugden could have a serious heart problem after she suffered a shock collapse.
Tuesday’s hour-long special (June 12) saw Sarah get rushed to hospital when her health took a dramatic turn for the worse at The Woolpack.
In a dramatic day for the Dingle family, Sarah (Katie Hill) had just been busted by the police for joyriding in Joe Tate’s car.
Under pressure to reveal her accomplices down at the police station, Sarah refused to cooperate and instead took the opportunity to expose Debbie’s acid attack secret.
Later on at the pub, the police arrived to arrest Debbie but everything was thrown into chaos when Sarah suddenly collapsed.
With the acid attack fallout suddenly the least of everyone’s worries, Sarah was rushed to hospital with Debbie, Ross and Faith all deeply concerned for her.
Although Debbie’s initial fear was that Sarah’s cancer could be back, she was told that a heart problem was another possibility.
One of the doctors explained: “We’re going to do a quick ultrasound to assess Sarah’s heart function. Sometimes, very rarely, chemotherapy can weaken it.
“Sarah’s blood pressure is very low and we’re looking into different reasons as to why that could be. We’ll keep you informed as we go along, but we really need to treat Sarah now.”
With so few answers, Debbie was left anxious over whether she could lose Sarah to an illness – or through being sent to jail.
Confiding in a sympathetic Ross at the hospital, Debbie explained: “I’ve tried to stay strong, I’ve hoped for the best but it never, ever comes. I feel like the world is determined that she can’t be alright. If I don’t get taken away from her, then she is going to get taken away from me, I know she is.”
Emmerdale continues on Wednesday (June 13) at 7pm on ITV.
