There are absolutely heartbreaking scenes in a new Emmerdale video clip, which shows Moira (Natalie J. Robb) and Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) trying to prepare Kyle (Huey Quinn) for the fact that he’s going to be taken away into local authority care following his admission to the police that he was the one who shot Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).
It seems like just a normal day as the two women take Kyle and his brother Isaac (Bobby Dunsmoir) to the café for cake and hot chocolate, but the fact that things are different is pointed out by Jimmy (Nick Miles) when he asks why the boys aren’t at school.
‘I can’t believe they’re taking him away,’ a clearly shattered Amy tells Moira while the boys are out of earshot.
Moira reveals that Cain (Jeff Hordley) is still refusing to see her. She went against his wishes by letting Caleb (William Ash) get involved, and Cain’s insistence on taking the blame for what his son did was torn apart by Kyle’s confession and Caleb thinking that it was the best way to get them all out of the situation they were in. Moira says that she doesn’t think Cain will ever forgive her for what he sees as her betrayal.
When the boys come out of the café, Kyle has questions and wants to know how soon he’ll be back home again. ‘A week?’ he asks. His mum and step-mum aren’t able to tell him, of course. ‘Not forever, though?’ he asks anxiously, as they both try to reassure him.
‘Will I have to share a cell?’ he wants to know, and Moira tells him he’s not going to prison. ‘You’re just going to a special place where kind people will look after you.’
‘Like boarding school?’ he asks, as Amy looks on, heartbroken.
And we can bet that if Cain was hearing Kyle’s words he’d be equally devastated as his son faces exactly the consequences that he was willing to face life behind bars to protect him from.
