Love Island star Faye Winter became tearful during the Celebrity MasterChef quarter-final as she recalled her dad’s time in intensive care after contracting Covid.

The reality TV, 27, favourite made it to the latest stage of the cooking competition alongside Paul Chuckle, 74, and McFly’s Danny Jones, 36.

The trio were tasked with making a menu for former Celebrity MasterChef competitors, and Faye revealed the sentimental meaning behind her dishes.

She revealed her menu would consist of pork chops with creamy mustard mash, as well as a syrup sponge.

Faye told John Torode and Gregg Wallace: ‘My family pub we’d go to on a Sunday, we’d all eat this.

However, when John probed her about her close relationship with her dad, she broke down as she recalled a difficult family situation in which he became ill.

‘The whole dish is for my dad, the whole experience has been for him,’ before she choked up.

‘You’re becoming a bit emotional there, mate… don’t want to let that mascara run!’ John teased, as Faye struggled not to cry.

Faye explained the reason for her tears, sharing: ‘I came out of Love Island, and my dad, unfortunately, caught Covid, and he was in intensive care for three weeks.

‘When I got this [opportunity to do MasterChef], I was like, I’m going to do it for him at the end of the day, and cook dishes he likes.’

She went on to joke: ‘He will watch this, he didn’t watch Love Island, he said I swore too much, but he’ll watch me on this!’

Despite a bit of a mishap with her sponge, Faye made it through to the semi-finals with Danny, whilst Paul was knocked out in a close contest.

Faye also expanded on her dad’s difficult time with Covid last year, posting photos of the pair together with a heartfelt caption on Instagram.

She said: ‘Masterchef was for this incredible, strong man, you guys may remember when I came out of Love Island and I spent a lot of time in Devon, with everyone questioning my relationship and judging the number of jobs I was announcing when actually me and my family were fighting a private battle of my amazing dad being in intensive care for almost a month, being told to prepare for the worse.

‘He lost so much weight he was unrecognisable and was delusional to the point we couldn’t even have a conversation.’

Faye went on to remind fans: ‘Remember you never know what battles people are facing privately, we chose to fight this privately and luckily my beautiful dad got healthier and stronger everyday and now 9 months on he is slowly getting there.

‘Thank you to the NHS and Torbay hospital for caring for him in his worse days me and my dad’s girls have no words to tell you how grateful we truly are.’
