Fear the Walking Dead is back on AMC and continuing to expand on The Walking Dead universe in exciting and wild new ways. Season seven will be very different for fans, following the nuclear option ending of season six. The wait is almost over, with the premiere imminent.
What time is season seven out?
The launch of season seven is here, with a simultaneous release in both the USA and UK on AMC.
For fans in the USA, the new season will premiere on Sunday at 9pm PST, October 17, while eager UK fans can catch the premiere Monday at 2am, October 18.
If fans in the UK don’t like the idea of staying up until 2am to watch the show, there is a repeat at 9pm on the same day.
In the USA the new season will also be available to watch on AMC+, the broadcaster’s streaming service alternative.
The service costs between $7 and $9 depending on the package subscribers choose, measured by the number of profiles a viewer will need.
Not only is the new season of Fear the Walking Dead on the platform, but the entire Walking Dead back catalogue is available as well.
This includes both the original series and the latest spin-off The Walking Dead: World Beyond.
New episodes of The Walking Dead season 11 are airing now and are accessible on the service.
Similarly, new episodes of World Beyond season two are airing now and available to watch on AMC+.
What is season seven about?
At the end of season six, Teddy (played by John Glover) decided enough was enough and exploded several nukes across the Texas area.
Teddy went with most of the state, leaving a new villain gap to be filled in during season seven.
It is already clear from the trailer this season will be very different, both in story, content and even visuals.
The nuclear-scarred landscape and irradiated skies will be something completely new for fans of The Walking Dead universe.
How all this will play out remains to be seen, but this soft reboot is intentional from the showrunners.
Speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, co-showrunner Andrew Chambliss told fans how season seven would be a completely new adventure.
Chambliss explained: “We were looking for a way to reinvent the show.
“We’re gonna reset everyone in terms of apocalypse survival. Everyone’s kind of back to zero, having to learn how to do it all over again.
“We are adding so many new elements. In many ways — from what we’ve shot so far — it feels like a new show.”
This isn’t the first time Fear the Walking Dead has had to reinvent itself, with season four similarly serving as a springboard for new events, characters, and locations.
Back in 2018, Chambliss told The Hollywood Reporter that “this show constantly reinvents itself”.
Chambliss added: “We’ve seen the location move from Los Angeles in season one, to getting on a boat in season two and then being in Mexico, and then living on a survivalist ranch on the border in season three.
“We see ourselves continuing that tradition and carrying the show forward to the next step.”
Now Fear the Walking Dead has gone full fallout, the future of the show is a blank canvas again.
Fear the Walking Dead season seven will premiere on Sunday, October 17, at 9pm on AMC in the USA. The UK release is simultaneous Monday, October 18, at 2am on AMC.
