Firefly Lane follows the lives of Tully Hart (played by Katherine Heigl) and Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) who have been friends for decades. They have seen one another through relationships, families, careers and everything in between with season one depicting a lot of their lives so far. Season two of the Netflix series will delve even deeper, looking into what tore the pair apart by the series finale.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Firefly Lane.
Firefly Lane season one’s final episode saw Kate’s ex-husband Johnny (Ben Lawson) set off an explosion during his time in Iraq.
He was last seen lying helplessly on the ground but it is unclear how bad his injuries are and if he will recover.
Meanwhile, it is Kate’s dad Bud’s (Paul McGillon) funeral but she stops Tully from entering the church, stating she never wanted to see her again.

Will there be a season 3 of Firefly Lane?
Firefly Lane originally made its debut in February 2021 and was quickly given a second series renewal.
Fans can expect the heartwarming drama to make a comeback on Friday, December 2, on Netflix.
Unfortunately, this is the beginning of the end as Firefly Lane won’t be returning for a third series, as confirmed by Netflix last month.
The show is based on the Kristin Hannah book of the same name with season two following the events of her sequel, Fly Away.
As Hannah didn’t continue Tully and Kate’s story with a third novel, there will just be the two Netflix series to enjoy.
Nevertheless, there will still be several episodes to look forward to following December 2.
Unlike the first outing, series two has been split into two parts with episodes one to nine out on Netflix on the mentioned release date.
In recent years, this has become a common way for shows to come out on the streamer.

From Ozark and Lucifer, to Money Heist and Lupin, more and more Netflix shows are coming out in two parts.
Another popular series that is set to be split in two is You season four with the first half premiering in February, and the rest of the episodes the following month.
Firefly Lane’s next outing is going to consist of 16 episodes in total with the following seven making its way to the streamer next year.
As of yet though, Netflix hasn’t confirmed the release date for Firefly Lane season two, part two.
Discussing her thoughts for the series one ending of Firefly Lane, creator Maggie Friedman told Entertainment Tonight:
“I knew that Tully and Kate were going to be estranged at the end of the season, but I didn’t know how I was going to dramatise that.
“I knew we were working towards that signpost because I felt like a good cliffhanger for season one is: ‘Oh my God, wait, these “Firefly Lane girls forever” are suddenly not? What happened?’
“I wanted to leave the audience with some big questions.”
Firefly Lane season 2 premieres on Friday, December 2, on Netflix.
