Giovanni Pernice is said to be "really annoyed" after his Strictly Come Dancing partner Amanda Abbington "didn't tell" him she was going to quit the BBC One show.
Amanda, 49, announced she'd made the decision to exit Strictly for "personal reasons" on Tuesday, 24 October, after missing the fifth live show on Saturday night, due to "medical reasons".
Amanda's professional dance partner Giovanni, 33, wished her well on social media, but behind the scenes he is said to be "frustrated" with the actress after he "barely heard from her for 10 days" and didn't warn him she was planning to quit.
“Amanda didn’t tell Giovanni she had decided to quit the show. The first he heard was a call from a producer," an insider told the Daily Star.
The source continued: "This has really annoyed him. He’s barely heard from her for 10 days. She hasn’t been replying to messages or telling him what’s happening. He’s been complaining about it to friends. He’s frustrated."
Giovanni is also said to be concerned how the "drama" will impact his career and image, with the insider adding: “He is worried the drama will be damaging for his career and make him look bad.”
OK! has contacted representatives for Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice for comment.
Representatives for Giovanni dismissed the claims as "total nonsense".
It was confirmed on Monday evening's episode of Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two that Amanda would be departing the BBC One competition.
Fleur East confirmed the Sherlock star had exited the show as she read a statement which said: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.”
The following day, Amanda broke her silence on her exit and took to Instagram to issue a lengthy statement, but failed to mention her partner Giovanni in her message.
“It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue," the actress began.
She continued: “It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.
“I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It’s a wonderful bunch of people and I’ll miss all of them. I’m so sad that I am unable to go any further.
"Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you. xxx”
