Former Gogglebox star Sandra Martin has been left heartbroken following news that her sister Jennifer Anita Richards has died.

The death of her younger sister was announced by Sandra on her Twitter this week. Sharing some loving pictures, she said: "My sister Jennifer Richards has passed away… I LOVE YOU JEN."

She continued to add another photo of the pair together and simply said: "R.I.P JENNIFER RICHARDS."

Sharing a beautiful smiling picture of her sister wearing a teal fluffy jacket, she also told close friends and family that the funeral service will be held on October 2, in London.

Television personality Sandra, who featured on the hit Channel 4 show, Gogglebox, from series one to nine between 2013 and 2017 alongside her friend Sandi Bogle, was inundated with touching messages from her followers who were keen to send their words of love and support.

One fan said: "So sorry to hear this Sandra, hope it was peaceful. God Bless you and your family," while another added: "So sorry for your loss, what a beautiful soul rest in paradise beautiful."

Others shared that their "thoughts and prayers" were with Sandra and her family and passed on their "condolences."

Her sister's death isn't the only heartache Sandra has endured in recent years. She suffered devastation during the coronavirus pandemic, losing friends and family that she was incredibly close to.

In April 2020, at the height of the virus and the UK's first lockdown, Sandra revealed to her fans on Twitter, as she broke down in tears, that her sister in law had passed away.

The bereaved star also lost another sister in law, uncle, friend's dad and a friend from Brixton during the outbreak.

A grieving Sandra told Metro.co.uk at the time that her sister in law had underlying health issues before she passed away, too. She said: "My brother, who is now in self-isolation is absolutely devastated by it. When I found out I started to cry and my daughter told me to pack my bags so I am staying with her in Brixton at the moment.

"My friend’s dad died first, then my brother’s wife died, my uncle died and my good friend from Brixton died, it is all so tragic. What is going on?"

This all came days after she revealed the heartbreak surrounding the family after her brother's wife tragically passed away due to respiratory disease, days after being taken into hospital.
