Young Royals has become a hit for Netflix after the Swedish drama debuted in 2021. The show follows the future king of Sweden as he attends a prestigious school, where he falls in love with fellow pupil who is fall below his station. The sparks fly between the two boys but outside forces and politics conspire to keep these two young lovers apart.
Who is in the cast of Young Royals season 2?
Prince Wilhelm of Sweden – Edvin Ryding
Teen star Edvin Ryding will be reprising his role as the young monarch Prince Wilhelm of Sweden or ‘Wilie’, who is conflicted between his duty to his family and his heart.
Ryding has had many roles before landing the part of the reluctant prince in Young Royals, with previous credits including Gåsmamman, Miss Friman’s War and Love me.
Simon Eriksson – Omar Rudberg
Venezuelan-Swedish singer and actor Omar Rudberg will also be back as Simon Eriksson, who falls for the prince.
Young Royals marks Rudberg’s big acting break after the star was part of the boyband FO&O before launching his solo career.
Marcus – Tommy Wättring
Up-and-coming star Tommy Wättring takes on the role of Marcus, Simon’s potential love interest who is seen in the trailer for the new series.
He was born in 1998 in Stockholm, Sweden and is currently 23-years-old, according to Hammarstrom Agency.
The site goes on to state he is 6ft 2in or 191cm for those curious about his height.
Wättring started his career at the age of 13, taking on the role of a bullied schoolboy in a short film.
This role led to other parts, he previously starred in Beck as Vilhelm Beck for seven years with the show being one of the biggest in Sweden.
He also appeared in Finaste familjen and the film Julie, however, Young Royals is likely to bring him international recognition.
The rising star trained at the Actors studio Stockholm and has previously appeared in commercials for Ikea and Kronans apotek.
In terms of stage experience, he appeared in a 2008 production of Karlsson på taket in the lead role of Karlsson and a 2021 staging of A Streetcar Named Desire as Stanley.
August of Årnäs – Malte Gårdinger
Taking on the part of antagonist and Wilhelm’s second cousin August of Årnäs is actor Malte Gårdinger.
Gårdinger had previously featured in Lyckoviken, Gåsmamman, Skitsamma and The Sandhamn Murders.
Felice Ehrencrona – Nikita Uggla
Felice Ehrencrona is once more played by Nikita Uggla with her character’s close friendship with Wilhelm becoming complex as she tries to help the prince take revenge on August for his betrayal in season one.
Young Royals marks Uggla’s big breakout role and with the success of the show is likely to lead to many other projects.
Sara Eriksson – Frida Argento
Frida Argento portrays Simon’s sister Sara Eriksson, who is on the spectrum and in season two appears to become attracted to August, even though he’s the cause of so much pain for her family.
Before landing the role in Young Royals, Argento starred in the short film Astrid and the TV series Riding in Darkness.
Queen Kristina of Sweden – Pernilla August
In the role of Prince Wilhelm’s mother, Queen Kristina of Sweden is Pernilla August, who will be trying to ensure nothing derails the line of succession.
Veteran star August has appeared in many films and TV shows during her career including playing Shmi Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode I and II as well as roles asin Beyond, Glitch, The Legacy and The Best Intentions.
Young Royals season 2 is released on Netflix tomorrow
