Fans have been up in arms over the new Charmed reboot that heads to The CW this fall. No one has been more outspoken than Holly Marie Combs, who played Piper Halliwell on the original series.
She’s gotten into Twitter spats with Brad Silberling, an executive producer and director of the reboot, after he said financial reasons are what prevented them from bringing back the original cast. On Monday, Yahoo published a story that Combs believed misrepresented a quote she made to the Huffington Post after the first trailer for the series dropped.
As a fan of the original series, Combs has a point. And surely, there are so many ways you can slice and dice a story about magical sisters — and call it something other than Charmed.
The new series will focus on Mel, Maggie, and Macy instead of Piper, Prue, and Phoebe. So whether we — or Holly Marie Combs — like it or not, the reboot is coming. But I won’t knock it until I try it. Who knows, maybe the series will turn out way better than the trailer.
