Home and Away star Georgie Parker has had health struggles for most of her life.
The actress, 58, has portrayed Roo Stewart on the Aussie soap since 2010, taking over the role from Justine Clark who bid farewell to Summer Bay in 1989. In recent months, Roo was caught up in the fight with Stunning Organics and ended up in possession of a bomb sent by the corrupt skincare company.
The bomb went off and left Roo paralysed with no feeling in her legs. The character's involvement in the blast allowed Georgie to take a seven-week break from the show to star in Sydney stage production, Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica.

Away from the soap, Georgie has opened up about her life-long health battles, including a car accident when she was younger which left her wanting to hide her body. “I got hit by a car when I was young," she explained in a previous interview.
"So my spine is one perfect C curve – my rib cage is sitting in my pelvis. Georgie continued: "It’s pretty vile but I'm still very mobile.
"People ask why Roo wears such loose clothes – it’s because I have to hide my torso." At the age of 13, Georgie was diagnosed with scoliosis and her dreams of becoming a dancer were halted.
The actress opened up during an interview with Body+Soul about living with the condition, which is where the spine twists and curves to the side. "Every scoliosis is different, it's like a fingerprint – but mine is all in the torso, I've lost about three inches in height," the mum-of-one said.
"I have to do a lot of strength training. I do a lot of swimming. During COVID, I took up ocean swimming and it has been exhilarating. It’s been freezing, but actually part of the fun of it is being uncomfortable."
The star went on: "Don’t ask me why. It has been amazing for my mental health – doing something hard." She touched upon the topic back in 2017, telling Now To Love that while it impacts her everyday, she has never resented living with the condition.
"It impacts me on a daily basis and I just have to stay fit to keep my back as functional as possible," Georgie told the publication. I've never resented [having scoliosis] and it's made me realise how lucky I am that, while I have this significant challenge, I can still live my life pretty much how I want to."
