House of the Dragon official trailer
In a highly anticipated update, HBO has unveiled first-look posters for House of the Dragon season two, featuring Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra Targaryen and Olivia Cooke’s Alicent Hightower.
These posters, released just a day ahead of the first trailer’s debut at the CCXP fan convention in Brazil, promise a fiery continuation of the Game of Thrones saga – coming to Sky and NOW in the UK next year.
Following a dramatic season one finale that concluded with a significant character death, the upcoming season heightens the stakes, with Rhaenyra and Alicent demanding blood for blood and fire to fire.
Showrunner Ryan Condal’s series, a prequel to the acclaimed Game of Thrones, delves into the Dance of the Dragons, a brutal civil war within the Targaryen dynasty that ravaged the once-mighty empire.
Season one set the stage for this conflict, showcasing Rhaenyra’s designation as the heir to the Iron Throne by her father, only to be challenged by the Hand of the King, Otto Hightower (played by Rhys Ifans), who positions his grandson Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) as a rival claimant.
The tension escalated when Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) accidentally killed Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys, setting the stage for an all-out war.
The star-studded cast for the new season includes Matt Smith, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, and many others, promising a rich and intense continuation of the story. HBO, in a recent tweet, teased fans with the promise of a “75 seconds” first-look trailer.
As the Game of Thrones universe expands, House of the Dragon season two is set to delve deeper into the complex political and personal dynamics of the Targaryen family.
The show promises to further explore the intricate web of alliances, betrayals, and power struggles that define the famed Dance of the Dragons.
