Paddy Considine could have landed himself in some very hot water after leaving House of the Dragon scripts for anyone to find in a hotel bin.

The 48-year-old actor has landed the most high-profile role of his career as King Viserys in the upcoming Game Of Thrones prequel.

But the Irish performer could have risked it all and caused a leak of one of the most anticipated dramas this year.

After rehearsing his lines for the upcoming George RR Martin adaptation, Paddy revealed he ‘left a couple of scripts in a hotel bin’ – and kept quiet about it.

‘They’ve gone now. I didn’t alert anybody,’ he told News.com.au. ‘I thought, “It’s gonna cause too much trouble.” But nothing got out. I’m good at keeping secrets, except for when I leave scripts in bins.’

Game of Thrones bosses were famously uber strict when it comes to scripts, with stars including Emilia Clark only allowed to read their lines on iPads.

Cast and crew were only given a ‘limited’ time to watch footage back, while paper scripts were completely banned from set.

The loosening of security for House of the Dragon may have something to do with Matt Smith, who made a strong case for actors needing hard copies of scenes.

Fabien Frankel, who plays Criston Cole, explained: ‘Matt said “You know I think the most important thing for us, [is] where we get to go home, take our scripts with us and do the work that we get to do. And to be able to write with them and sleep with them and have them in the bath and whatever it is.”

‘And actually without him saying that, I don’t think we would have gotten the scripts.’

Hilariously, Paddy was previously sent a script for Game of Thrones before it premiered but turned it down because, er, it was ‘about dragons.’

Speaking to the Sunday Times Culture magazine, he said: ‘[My agent] said, “It’s about dragons.” I went, “No thanks.” I didn’t even read it.’

House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of the main show and will follow House Targaryen at the height of its power across the Seven Kingdoms, when King Viserys I sat on the Iron Throne.

House of the Dragon premieres on August 22 on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
