Hitmen Reloaded is the sequel season to Hitmen from 2019, the hit comedy starring Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins. Heading back to Sky Comedy, the new season will see the two oddball contract killers take on some new challenges. Express.co.uk has all the details about the new season.
How many episodes are in Hitmen Reloaded season 2?
After making its debut in 2019, Hitmen is back for a second season on Sky, with the first season consisting of six episodes, each 30 minutes in length.
Season two will be the same, with the first episode dropping on Wednesday, September 29 at 9pm on Sky Comedy.
The story follows Jamie (played by Mel Giedroyc) and Fran (Sue Perkins), two best friends and business partners.
However, they are not just in a typical business, they kill people for a living, though they actually stumbled into this career path.
The second season will be business as usual for the pair, as they are once again caught in an increasingly absurd series of events.
Yet, season two will open with the duo feeling nostalgic and dressed up in their best 80s outfits as they head to a school reunion.
It’s been over 30 years since they saw their classmates and they aren’t sure how to feel about it.
Stars Giedroyc and Perkins opened up about how they felt returning to their characters for season two.
“The second series kept getting pushed back because of you know what,” Giedroyc explained. “There was a lot of anticipation and excitement, but also we felt quite nervous as well.
“I think a lot of performers feel that way, because we’ve all had a year plus of not actually doing that much, and now it’s all come back with a full crew of people and expectations.”
Perkins added: “We’ve basically been given the chance to come back out of lockdown and play, albeit in a careful way. Being back at work adds that extra kind of responsibility.
“You really take care outside of filming because the crew is your family and you want to make sure everyone is safe.
“We felt incredibly protected in this environment and we’ve been able to do everything we would normally do. All the stunts, all the hanging about, all the messing around.”
Joining the cast in season two is Katherine Parkinson, star of IT Crown and Spreadsheet.
She is joining the cast as an unofficial third member of the hit squad and changing the dynamic of the series with it.
“She’s phenomenal,” Perkins added, “the triangular dynamic is so fun to play.
“It felt like we were still at school with those silly tensions that you have, particularly amongst girls.
“She’s so brilliant and the character is so repulsive. I think people are going to really love her.”
Fans should also expect a series of cameos throughout the season, including Sanjeev Bhaskar, Alan Asaad, and Nina Wadia.
Hitmen Reloaded is available to watch on Sky Comedy from September 29.
