I'm a body language expert – Strictly star Fleur's fake smiles can't hide her frustration with negative judges | The Sun

FLEUR East is trying to mask her disappointment and frustration about negative feedback from the Strictly judges with fake smiles, a body language expert has claimed.

The X Factor star and radio presenter was an early favourite to make the final but found herself in the bottom two on Sunday.

Fleur, 34, reportedly broke down in tears after beating Richie Anderson – who was sent home along with partner Giovanni Pernice – in the dance-off.

Speaking to The Sun on behalf of Slingo, Darren Stanton said: "While the judges were impressed with her ability, Fleur was left disheartened when she received criticism advising her to exert more control and rein in her energy.

"At the end of week two, Fleur found herself in the dance off and you could see, for someone so focused, her confidence was hugely knocked by this.

"We saw flickers of disappointment and frustration appear across her face – her eyebrows came together, her eyes narrowed and her lips became pursed.

"These emotions are almost imperceptible and appear ever so subtly, yet several fake smiles Fleur gave on top of this indicate that she was extremely disappointed despite how hard she was trying to hide how she was really feeling.

"She displayed a great level of rapport and a strong connection with Vito throughout her dance off performance, but it’s clear to see she’s struggling with the negative feedback from both the judges and the public."

Craig Revel Horwood admitted he was shocked to see Fleur in the bottom two.

After watching her perform again, he said: "I would like to save the most accomplished technician and that is Fleur and Vito."

Motsi Mabuse found the decision tough and said: "I think it’s heartbreaking actually because I think both of you do not deserve to be here but this is how the public voted and based on this dance off I’m going to save Fleur and Vito."

Anton du Beke said: "Well I thought that was a well danced dance off. I thought both couples performed well, I thought one couple was a bit more sure footed about their performance and had a slightly better level of artistry about what they were doing, so the couple I would like to save is Fleur and Vito."

Head judge Shirley Ballas's vote wasn't needed, but she said she would have saved Richie.
