Inside Hollyoaks stars Nadine Mulkerrin & Rory Douglas Speed's son's christening with amazing balloon display

HOLLYOAKS' real-life couple Nadine Mulkerrin and Rory Douglas Speed celebrated their son Reggie's christening with an amazing balloon display and soft play area.

The pair welcomed their boy into the world in October 2019.

Just months after their son was born, the coronavirus pandemic hit, which meant that they had to reschedule the religious ceremony.

But over the weekend they finally got to celebrate two-year-old Reggie's special day.

Nadine, 28 – who plays Cleo McQueen on the Channel 4 show – shared some snaps from the celebration on Instagram.

She told 495k followers: "It was cancelled due to covid, taming a toddler by the altar was hard work! What a brilliant day!

"Thank you to all our amazing godparents, friends and family! We love you 🤍."

After the ceremony the guests enjoyed a selection of tasty treats and drinks, as well as a gorgeous balloon display.

Reggie also had an amazing animal themed cake with a giraffe, tiger and zebra placed on the top of it.

The youngsters were entertained with a soft play area and even got to hold a selection of wildlife animals including owls, meerkats and hedgehogs.

Nadine and Rory, 29, invited some of their Hollyoaks co-stars along, including Rachel Adedeji, Parry Glasspool and Jessica Ellis.

The pair announced the news that Nadine had given birth to their first child two years ago.

Rory, who has played Joel Dexter in the the long-running saga since 2016, told fans: “Welcome to the family wee Reggie Speed 15.8.19

“We love You man.  So proud of Nadine, I didn’t think I could love her anymore but my heart is bloody bursting! She was amazing throughout her labour. Women are seriously Superhuman x”

Nadine shared her own picture with her new born and gushed: "Reggie Speed . Your the coolest little dude we never knew we were missing in our lives! We love you so Much.

"Also Thank you to every incredible NHS worker we’ve come across at the womens. (Helen,Jordine,Amy,Amy) Your all walking angels. Thank you so much for making one of biggest moments of our lives so extra special with care."

The couple, who met on set of the Channel 4 soap, went public with their relationship in November 2017.

They got engaged a year later during a romantic trip to Amsterdam.

During a chat with OK! magazine, Rory admitted that he thought his wife-to-be was going to say no.

He confessed: "It was terrifying. I felt like I was on my knee for an eternity.

"I remember saying: ‘Go on, just say something!'"

The happy family now live in their "dream home" in Liverpool, after moving in last year.
