James Bond's Alan Cumming reveals he got painfully burned filming GoldenEye death scene

Alan Cumming gave us a memorable James Bond villain with GoldenEye‘s pen-twirling computer whizz Boris Grishenko, who had a classic baddie death as he was fatally frozen by some computer coolant.

That death scene was memorable for Alan in more ways than one, however.

The actor recalls that he actually got painfully burned filming it, and firefighters had to come and help him out.

Alan told PeopleTV: “When I was shooting it I had a strap thing around me that held me so I couldn’t move when all the stuff started to fall.

“When all that big thing fell on me, there were some big lumps of liquid ice, liquid nitrogen at the bottom of the thing, and it landed on my head and I couldn’t move. It started burning my head.

“So I was like ‘Aaaaaaah!’ and they were like, ‘Quick, get out of the way’ and I was like, ‘I can’t move!’

“And then all these firemen came rushing on to the set and put my hair out.”

The Son of the Mask actor is currently starring in a new series called Instinct and he also announced that he will be appearing in this year’s series of Doctor Who.

Although he wasn’t actually supposed to reveal that.

Alan was actually offered the lead role in the show multiple times, but turned it down because, for some inexplicable reason, he hates Cardiff.
