Jeff Brazier breaks his silence on Strictly star son Bobby's tribute to mum Jade Goody with emotional post | The Sun

PROUD Jeff Brazier has given a glittering assessment of his son Bobby's emotional tribute to late mum Jade Goody on Saturday night's Strictly.

Young model and actor Bobby, 20, performed a contemporary dance to This Woman’s Work by Maxwell with partner Dianne Buswell.

The track, originally sung by Kate Bush, is significant for Bobby as it helped him grieve the loss of mum Jade when he was a young boy. The Big Brother legend died of cervical cancer when her eldest son was just five.

Writing on Instagram last night, Jeff said: "To share your grief even to just one person can be a daunting prospect but to express it so movingly in front of millions takes incredible courage so thank you for your inspiration @bobbybrazier!

"Encouraging many a conversation about loss & giving people an outlet for the tears they might find hard to release is a wonderful legacy of your time in the competition so far.

"You said something in the VT about making me proud of you? You and your brother achieved that a long time ago. Don’t forget I’ve seen the journey and you both have my lifelong support & unwavering respect."

Jeff then turned his attention to Bobby's dance partner Dianne.

He continued: "Ah @diannebuswell you’ve supported my son through this & every other week with the selflessness & resilience not everyone but your family & fellow professionals will see or understand.

"I admire the way you balance the multitude of challenges you face always with a smile & your professionalism & towering strength appears without limit.

"Bobby's favourite song wasn’t just an outlet for his frustrations years ago & a wonderful tribute to Jade, I also think, appropriately that ‘this woman’s work’ also recognises perfectly what you’re made of, what you’re giving and who you are.

"Although the routine was a blur and the anticipation highly emotional I enjoy so much watching all perform, the fact bobby is holding his own amongst such talent & creativity is astonishing.

"Thank you for another week! Let’s go Swayze! That lift is going to be a huuuuuge moment!"

Appreciative Dianne commented with love hearts and wrote: "such lovely words Jeff thank you."

Days before taking to the dance floor, Bobby talked about the live show song choice on spin-off programme It Takes Two.

He said: "I’ve always thought it's the perfect song, the way he sings it the lyrics are profound and very impactful for me.

"There's lyrics in particular – ‘I should be crying but I just can't let it show’ – and when I was a little bit younger and I was angry and resentful and I feared the world and just couldn't cry or express myself it was those lyrics, hearing that, that would make me cry because it felt so true.

"There is me as a child and then I come out as me now. I have got Dianne, who replicates a woman, let's say my mother probably, and we go on this journey throughout but I don't know the whole dance yet to tell you the story completely, but yes it's emotional, it's lovely, I think there could be tears."

On the night judges Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke broke down as they gave feedback on the dance, praising Bobby not only for his technical skill but also the raw emotion he infused into every movement.

In the audience Jeff and son Freddie could be seen with tears in their eyes.

Jeff joined the viewers in a standing ovation and shared the pride he felt for his son in a tender moment behind-the-scenes.

The emotional dad said: "As a family we're very tight, we've had to be. I am the one that has got to bring the boys up and I am the one who has got to watch them on strictly.' Hes a walking tribute to his mum and that's another reason why we're really proud of him."

Speaking about his mum's death, Bobby shared: "It changed my life completely. I would love to spend a day with her to see where I get my smile from. My first childhood memory, I remember thinking, oh my god, she is a superhero."

After the performance, when the Strictly show host asked what the performance meant to him, he seemed lost for words, saying: "I don't know what to say, all I can think is how blessed I am."

Pro dancer Dianne added: "It was such an honour to be a part of this."
