With her new book, My Unapologetic Diaries, hitting shelves this week along with a tour of the country in the pipeline, Joan Collins joined Ronan Keating and Sam Quek on The One Show on Tuesday to discuss all about the new projects. The trio had plenty to talk through, from Joan’s time on Dynasty to her fashion advice for prime minister Boris Johnson. However, it was the 88-year-old’s appearance which got BBC viewers talking, with many blown away by the star’s ageless look.

As soon as Joan sat down with Sam and Ronan on The One Show’s famous sofa, social media was alight with compliments for the actor.

Twitter user @OzoneVibe penned: “How does anyone look as good at 88+ years old as does @Joancollinsdbe. Quite amazing.”

And Sarah agreed: “Joan Collins is 88! Blimey woman you look fabulous #TheOneShow.”

“Joan Collins is 88, how is that even possible?! She looks – and sounds – years younger, she’s so amazing, what an incredible zest for life she has! #joancollins #TheOneShow,” Julia Frost added to the discussion.

“Joan Collins looks amazing. Whaaaaaat!! #joancollins #88,” commented @lesta_lad while Lewis concurred: “They don’t make them like Dame Joan Collins anymore.. classy, legendary and glorious #TheOneShow.”

The compliments didn’t stop there as Sarah Jane Palmer tweeted: “Joan Collins looks the same lol not aged at all #Dynasty @Joancollinsdbe love how fun Dame Joan is, always a joy  #TheOneShow.”

Kaz echoed: “She looks incredible and so sharp!! #joancollins.”

And Twitter user @BothersBar said: “Blimey, you’d never think Joan Collins is 88.” (Sic)

One talking point from Joan’s chat with Sam and Ronan was her love of fashion.

And it didn’t take long for Sam to cheekily bring up how Joan had some words of advice for former prime minister John Major.

“Well, I didn’t off it [advice] to him,” Joan said when asked by Sam. “His righthand man said to me at a party that I was at that Mr Major was at,

“He said, ‘what do you think about how he looks?’ I said I think he’s a much better looking man, but he’s got to get smaller glasses.”

Joan continued: “He said, ‘will you tell him that?’ and I said, ‘well, I’ll have another glass of wine and then I’ll pluck up the courage to say Mr Major, you need smaller glasses’.”

Sam and Ronan let out a chuckle before the former quickly followed up: “What about Boris?

“Any advice for him?” Sam probed, prompting Joan to quip: “Yeah, I would say go and get your suits tailored better.”

The One Show hosts let out a laugh before Joan revealed the prime minister was once actually her boss.

Joan revealed she had written for The Spectator when Mr Johnson was acting as editor.

However, it didn’t stop her from recalling a cheeky dig she made about his appearance at the time.

Joan admitted she thought the prime minister has used an “egg-beater” to do his hair, something which brought a laugh from Ronan and Sam.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
