Joe Swash has joked he leaves his wife Stacey Solmon feeling worried when hides in the loo for up to 45 minutes to escape family life and have some "me time".

The family, including the two children the couple share – Rex, 3, and Rose, 1, and the former X Factor stars other three kids – spend most of their time at their £1.2 million family home “Pickle Cottage” in Essex.

The former EastEnders star who appeared show to discuss his new cookbook, Joe’s Kitchen, admitted he often pops to the loo to take some time out from home life – and typically watches Netflix in his bathroom.

And the mischievous star admitted that Stacey is often left wondering if "something is wrong with his bowels" because of the amount of time he spends in the bathroom.

Host Steph McGovern. asked him if there is truth in rumours that when he wants a bit of me time he "hides in the loo?"

Joe laughed as he said: "Yeah".

"Stacey thinks I've got really bad bowels – she is like 'why are you always in that toilet for so long', mainly I am watching Netflix.

"That's why I love cooking as well because I go into the kitchen, get the kids away and get in my own little world, everyone needs that five minutes away to kind and have a little breather.

Steph interrupted to ask: "Is it five minutes or is it two hours?

Joe then conceded: "I pushed it to about 45 minutes.

Steph laughed as she asked: "Did you?"

A giggling Joe said: "Yeah and then Stacey was really worried that something is really wrong with me."

Joe also admitted that some of the highlights of his career are appearing on Eastenders and I'm A Celeb, which he won in 2008, as well as hosting its spin-off show Extra Camp.

He also teased fans of the I'm A Celeb by saying he would consider returning as a contestant if ITV ever did a "legends" series, featuring previous stars who have appeared on the reality TV show.
