Neighbours legends Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan have been seen back together in Ramsay Street for the first time since Kylie's exit in 1988.

Their return for the much-anticipated final has been pictured, with Kylie seen wearing Charlene's iconic overalls as she and Jason share an embrace on Ramsay Street.

Much of the information surrounding their return has been kept under wraps, but both Kylie and Jason were quick to share the sweet snaps with their fans.

Making reference to their iconic hit Especially For You, Kylie cheekily captioned the snap: "Now we're back together."

The picture sparked a huge response from fans, as one replied: "These are everything we could’ve wished for and more! Love that Charlene still has her perm and boiler suit!!"

Another added: "Love this. My childhood dream came true. Legends coming back one last time. Amazing."

The pair, who played Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell, were last seen on screen together over 30 years ago when Kylie's character decided to move to Brisbane, just a year after their famous wedding ceremony, which raked in over 30million viewers in the UK.

Jason's character Scott stayed on the soap for another year as he told her that he would join once he could get a job transfer.

With both of the stars being unable to film scenes for Scott and Charlene for the 25th anniversary of the soap in 2009, this will be the first time the characters will be seen on screen together in 34 years.

Kylie said about the return: "Firstly, where’s all that time gone? Secondly, everything looks exactly the same. Thirdly, Scott, Charlene, Jane, Harold – it all just came flooding back!

"There was a lot of talking about memories and going back in time."

Soap boss Jason Herbison also issued a statement about the exciting news, saying: "Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them."

"We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale."

Following the news that Channel 5 had decided to pull Neighbours from its schedule, the soap will be ending in a double episode on July 29.

It will air at 9pm on Channel 5, with a number of former stars returning to the soap to say goodbye, including Guy Pearce, who played Mike Young, and Ian Smith, who played the lovable Harold Bishop.
