Earlier this week, Laura Whitmore shocked fans after announcing she was stepping away from her role on Love Island. The ITV presenter explained the reason behind her decision was that she was finding some aspects of filming for the show “difficult”. However, it has since been revealed Laura has landed her “dream” job role.

The mum-of-one has bagged her own ITV show called Laura Whitmore Investigates.

The series will look at a number of controversial issues and will see Laura using her journalism skills to reveal new insights on each subject.

Viewers will also see a new side of Laura as she travels across the UK and further afield to delve into subjects that fascinate her and have an impact on our lives.

Speaking about landing the new role, Laura said: “It’s a dream come true to have this platform and work with a brilliant team at ITV through this series of investigative films.

“Getting back to my journalistic roots, I hope we can shine a light on some really important topics and issues, and delve into a variety of serious and interesting real-life subjects.”

Laura’s new project comes after she decided to quit Love Island after three years.

The presenter, who is married to Iain Stirling, confirmed the news on Instagram.

Sharing a snap of her on the Love Island set, she wrote: “Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island.

“There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands.

“I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline.” (sic)

Laura’s followers were quick to reply, with many former Islanders also sharing their messages of support.

Laura Higgins wrote: “You will be missed.”

“You absolutely did! Going to miss you,” Shaughna Phillips replied.

While Paige Turley added: “Gutted to hear this. You were amazing!!”

Adam Collard, who recently featured on the latest series, commented: “Lucky enough to see you both! You smashed it, Laura.”

Laura replaced Caroline Flack when she presented the winter version of Love Island in 2020.

ITV are yet to confirm who will step into Laura’s shoes, however, fans have come up with their own ideas.

Maya Jama is also the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Laura, with Maura Higgins and Rylan Clark close behind her.

However, some fans are calling for Love Island winner Ekin-Su to take over following her popularity in the latest series.
