Limitless Win fans react as contestants narrowly miss out on ‘biggest prize ever won’

Limitless Win fans have dubbed a recent episode the most “tense” ever after contestants racked up a staggering £1,200,000.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s ITV competition show sees contestants answer numerical questions in hopes of moving up the “Limitless Ladder” and winning as much cash as possible.

The season two finale saw mother-son duo, Tracey-Jane and Troy Beaumont, undertake the challenge and shocked fans online with their determination to win it all.

The Liverpool locals, who admitted to being Doctor Who fans, were also treated to a personalised VT from David Tennant himself, who played the titular character alongside series regulars like Rose Tyler’s Billie Piper.

The Scottish-born actor wished his fans the best while diving into a cake with Troy’s likeness on it.

Throughout the competition, the contestants managed to guess how many letters were in the word “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and work out how many dots were on a domino tile.

Despite their resilience, Troy and Tracey-Jane narrowly missed the win after running out of lives during their final hurdle in what could have been the biggest gameshow win in UK history.

Reacting to the moment online, one fan wrote: “That was absolutely brutal to watch! So cruel to be so close to that amount of money and not being able to bank it!"

"Absolutely gutted for you!! That was unreal..” another wrote, as a third added: “To be fair, I don’t think I’d know my own name, let alone any general knowledge, if I’d had a video message from David Tennant.”

The Chase’s Mark Labett also questioned: “Would have just nailed a small fortune on #limitlesswin with 17 boxing weight divisions. Any chance the governess and I can play for charity? :).”

On his own Twitter account, Troy addressed the highs and lows of the evening, with one tweet reading: “I got to meet Ant and Dec, David Tennant ate a cake with my face on it and we made TV history. We might have lost, but I feel like a winner.”

“And now the fact that kills me – if we'd gone with 12 for dominoes, and NOT 6, we'd have had exactly the right amount of lives to see one more question. I'll forever wonder what that question would've been,” he wrote in another while adding: “I forgot just how close we were on every. Single. Question.”

He also wrote: “Logging off for now but thank you everyone for your kind words and support. What a night, and what a show. Honoured to have had the chance to play and I just hope it's not the last time I'm on a TV screen! x.”
