Viewers couldn’t believe their eyes on Twitter, writing: ‘Omg I can’t breathe’ and ‘WHAT! Nah, I wasn’t expecting that at all!
‘WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO US, JED?! Bloody hell, I need a cuppa to calm me down.’
This isn’t the first shock death of the series either.
DCS Lester Hargreaves (Tony Pitts), who was wearing a balaclava, died in hospital last week after being shot by Corbett.
Just two more episodes stand in the way of the grand series five finale, with the BBC confirming that all will be wrapped up in a whopping 90-minute installment.
An insider told The Sun: ‘Jed also felt it was necessary to create a bumper finale to tie up the many loose ends created in this series twisting storylines.’
Line Of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
