Line Of Duty’s Craig Parkinson ‘splits from wife Susan Lynch’ after 12 years

Line Of Duty's Craig Parkinson is believed to have split from his wife, Susan Lynch after 12 years of marriage.

The pair are said to have secretly split last year but remain on amicable terms.

Craig, who became a household name playing bent copper DS Matthew 'Dot' Cottan in the BBC smash series, Line of Duty, shares a nine-year-old son with Sex Education actress Susan, 49.

Despite no longer living as a married couple, the pair are working alongside one another to co-parent their son.

Derek Parkinson, Craig's father, revealed the sad news to MailOnline saying: "Yes, they have split up. It's very sad but Craig is okay, and people do know.

"They are trying to stay amicable, it's just one of those things."

While a source added that they decided to keep their separation "very private".

"Craig and Susan kept their split very private but they parted ways last year. It has been completely amicable between them.

"They have busy careers and are involved with separate ventures, they just grew apart and decided it would be stronger for their family if they were no longer married," the insider added.

It's believed that Craig, 44, has thrown himself at his podcast, Two Shot Pod.

During their relationship, the former lovers lived on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean due to different work projects.

Speaking to Cotswold Life last year, Craig revealed: "We'd just got married and she was straight on Broadway [playing Maire in Brian Friel's Translations].

"We were in New York for six months and I loved it, the cat came over and everything."

After experiencing life in the City That Never Sleeps, the couple relocated to Camden, north London before eventually calling Stroud, Gloucestershire, home.

"She was a bit worried that I wouldn't adapt to the countryside. I'm from the seaside and I'm kind of used to cities,

"I've been in London since I was 17. But I wouldn't live anywhere but here now," said Craig.

Craig's character DS Cottan was killed off from Line Of Duty in 2015 after he was fatally shot during series three.

In series five, he was later exposed as giving his dying declaration to DS Kate Fleming, played by Vicky McClure.

Daily Star Online has approached representatives for both Craig and Susan.
