Line of Duty's Kelly Macdonald has revealed that only the programme's 'top cast' know who 'H' really is.
The popular BBC drama is set to air its finale episode on Sunday and fans are desperate to find out who the mysterious "fourth man" is.
Numerous characters are being speculated as viewers continue to try and work out who the individual commanding the network of corrupt officers is.
Kelly, who plays Jo Davidson on the iconic programme, has said show Jed Mercurio is "troublesome" as she explained only the "top cast" know who 'H' is.
The 45-year-old Trainspotting star told PA news agency: "The main cast know. I don't know about everybody. H knows who H is… Like I said, I don't know the whole cast, but I know the top cast."
Kelly explained: "Jed Mercurio, man, he is troublesome. He keeps a lot to himself. I feel like Martin (Compston, co-star) always heard about things first. I felt like he would get the lay of the land.
"I don't know if that was just because he is so on top of everything and understands everything acutely and what the connotations are.
"I didn't have the full story on Jo. I just knew that things hadn't been great for her. Jed kept saying, 'She is this enigmatic figure' and he was being enigmatic himself.
"By the time we came back after the first lockdown, I knew what was up."
Stars of the popular medical drama, Vicky McClure and Martin Compston, are set to appear on The Jonathan Ross Show this weekend and the pair laugh off a few fan theories during the show.
Presenter Jonathan will put some fan theories to them to see their reaction.

Former Line of Duty star Craig Parkinson 'rubbishes' fan theory about Carmichael
The host will ask the actors about a specific anagram code theory that fans are currently speculating.
It's been discussed that character Jimmy Lakewell previously gave a hint by saying "look beyond the race claim to find H".
Fans are convinced it's a major clue because, if you take the letters which make up "race claim" out of Carmichael, you are left with one letter – H.
However, during the ITV chat show, Martin laughs off the theory as he says: "Do you know what I love about that one?
"It's so spot on, but that line never got said… blew my mind. Jed [Mercurio] said, 'No, that line never happened.'"
Jonathan also asks them about another theory that Patricia Carmichael, played by Anna Maxwell, tapped her pen four times, which is morse code for "H".
Vicky says: "Hmm that’s very interesting, yeah. Very, very interesting…'" as she made sure not to give anything away.
The finale of Line of Duty airs Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
