The Loose Women star made the shocking confession to The Daily Mirror in an emotional interview about how the diagnosis changed her life.
Andrea, 48, revealed doctors found out about the disease after she had a hysterectomy.
The discovery was a turning point for her and she’s never looked back.
Andrea explained: “When you think life is coming to an end, you’ve never wanted to live so much. I’ve been given a second chance and I’m not going to waste it.”
The condition, known as medium vessel vasculitis, means blood vessels can become enlarged and stop blood flowing to vital organs.
Andrea said it was a “wake up call” and has now started to push herself in all aspects of her life, including with her career and with her family.
She added: “I didn’t want to look back on my life and wish I’d been brave enough to do something.”
Andrea has previously spoken about her struggle with her health on Loose Women and admitted she was suffering with short term memory loss because of the menopause.
Speaking to The Sun about how she was coping with the change, Andrea explained: “In terms of the physical side of it, it was awful.
“I had sweat running down my back, down my neck.
“In every break [on Loose Women], the air conditioning was on, it was off, I was fanning myself, doing the Birdie Dance.
“I was going through bags of tissues and mopping myself down and I was having to do that in the break while nobody was looking.”
