Things have just got even more complicated in the saga of Georgia Steel and Jack Fowler’s kiss on Love Island.
For days, both fans of the show and the Islanders themselves (especially Laura Anderson) have been trying to work out who kissed who first at the end of Georgia and Jack’s date.
During Sunday’s (July 8) Aftersun, Caroline Flack answered fans’ requests and used the World Cup’s VAR (that’s video assisted referee, by the way) to try and put the issue to bed once and for all.
But it appears that the footage has just made the situation worse, as eagle-eyed fans noticed something dodgy about the clip.
When the kiss was replayed from different angles, some noticed that the timing of the clips didn’t quite add up, leading fans to question if the scene had actually been filmed more than once.
In the first clip, Wes Nelson and Megan Barton Hanson can be seen kissing before Georgia and Jack’s kiss. The second clip, however, showed Georgia and Jack kissing while Megan and Wes are just getting up after finishing their meal.
Some viewers took to Twitter to accuse the show of staging the kiss just to cause drama:
ITV2 declined to comment when asked by Digital Spy.
One thing the footage did prove, however, was that Wes, who claimed to have seen the kiss, wasn’t actually telling the truth at all about any of it.
After watching the clips, presenter Caroline Flack declared: “The biggest revelation there is Wes is a complete liar because he wasn’t looking at the kiss!”
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
